Curriculum Overview

Our Primary School is split into two key stages; Key Stage One and Key Stage Two.

The core focus in Key Stage One is building on the foundations established in EYFS. Children will be exposed to a variety of materials and resources, focusing on language development including reading, writing, speaking and listening. These skills will also be acquired through other subjects such as Mathematics, Science, History and Geography. The technological advances in the world today give us the opportunity to access the Key Stage One British National Curriculum through a variety of different kinaesthetic learning directives.

When students move on to Key Stage 2, they begin to be exposed to the broader spectrum of the curriculum, with a focus on Literature, Geography, History, Maths, Science, Fine Arts, French and Music.

BISM teaching and learning plan is done according to the National Curriculum of England and is set to achieve its learning objectives.

Key Stage 1 – Year 1 & Year 2

BISM follows the British National Curriculum. With a variety of different resources sourced from the UK alongside diverse curriculum schemes, teachers are sure to have everything available to meet all children’s individual needs. Children will pick up lifelong skills, through tried and tested strategies to improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills using the latest technology in this field, meeting both British and technological objectives.

Children will access to a variety of different ways to learn new concepts and meet the core Mathematical objectives in the British National. It is important that children are given the opportunity to gain skills across other cross-curricula subjects including Science, History, Geography, and art for children to become the new future of Egypt. Children will have access to regular exercise during their PE and swimming lessons as well as experience a selection of different performing arts during their time at BISM.

Key Stage 2 – Year 3 – 5

Following the British National Curriculum, we abide by the learning framework of the curriculum and build on the strong foundation provided at Key Stage 1. Students will be exposed to a broader learning experience where educational field trips and a wide range of activities are introduced to further develop their skills and build their personality while intriguing their curiosity and ability to acquire knowledge.

Students will study a wide range of subjects with their class teachers including English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Arts & Design, Music, Computing, Design & Technology, French and Physical Education. In addition, to comply with the rules of the Egyptian Ministry of Education, students will also study Arabic Language, Religion and Social Studies.
